Originally native to Western Europe these small rough and tumble mammals are the worlds only truly domesticated mustelid. Ferrets in the wild are highly energetic and explorative, they are excellent predators despite their small stature and are known to take down prey twice their own size. They are most well known for their fun and mischievous nature and the fact they make excellent companion animals. In captivity ferrets are known to be friendly and playful and form close bonds with their caretakers.
